Rabbit Hole #888 Fake AI Podcast Pretty Darn Real

Notebook LM Review

I was catching up on my email while waiting for my husband at the dentist’s office. One of the headlines in the Buzzsprout e-newsletter read, “Google’s AI is Turning Documents into Podcasts.” Well, that intrigued me, so I clicked the link. The link took me to an article in The Verge titled, “Google is using AI to make fake podcasts from your notes.” The Verge article gave a thorough review and instructions on using Notebook LM to create a fake podcast.

Oh, it sounded like fun so I just had to try.

I mean, what else are you going to do while you wait for someone at the dentist’s office?

The process was very user-friendly. When setting up your podcast, you can provide detailed notes to achieve more accurate results. However, I was just playing, so I gave no notes at all.

None 🙂

I simply uploaded the link to my sock monkey story on my website, and this is what Notebook LM created:

Except for a couple of details, it’s pretty darn close. For example, I have one painting at the Midway Village Sock Monkey Museum, and I have participated in Sock Monkey Fesitvals but I never had an entire exhibit at the museum. Also I’m not sure where they saw the sock monkey sunset painting. I’ve done 50+ paintings and that’s not one of them. Other than that, it’s pretty darn good.

Huge thanks to Buzzsprout and The Verge for sending me down this very entertaining rabbit hole!
